Recommended Fuel?

Question 2 for my new car is...

What fuel is recommended? The mechanic shop said premium for all Hondas. Do people feel this makes a difference? I just had the fuel injection system flushed, so I went with that for my first tank for added cleaning, but don't know if $.25 a gallon more is going to pay off long-term. I have an "S" model with the small engine, so perhaps a small performance boost is worth it if actually realized.

Any thoughts?

Just run the regular grade fuel, you won't grain anything be running premium on a "S" model. Now there is some talk about older engine using the mid-grade fuel if you have pinging problems because of carbon buildup in an older engine, but try the regular grade first as that is what is called for on it.

actually, for a while i put only chevron 89 in my s. then i started putting chevron 92 in it, and on occasions putting octane booster in it to be running about 98 octane in it. and when the octane booster ran out, and i had to put 92 in it i could feel the difference. even when i let my friend borrow my car and he put the chevron midgrade, i could tell he didnt put the right gas. it made my car feel like it was hella heavy.

There is always the acetone additive experiment. Running through (min)three-four tanks would help clean out the gunk. 3oz per ten gallons, but the longer you use it the better your results.

Heres a myth that i need answered too. Does premium or any high grade gas give you a poor mpg on highway trips? It seemed to be a big dif when drove to spokane yesturday. I can get about 430 miles on a full tank. ANd premium made that not even fathomable.
